Presented by Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society and Springboard Performance, sponsored by the Calgary Institute for the Humanities
Join us for a powerful evening of dialogue, reflection, and exchange as artists, scholars, and cultural leaders gather to explore what it truly means to decolonize the arts within academic spaces.
A round table discussion featuring panelists:
- Sandra Lamouche
- Dr. Victoria Bouvier PHD
- Marshall Vielle
- Sable Sweetgrass
- Zoe Poluch
Moderated by Garret Smith, Artistic Director Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society.
While institutions across the globe are engaging in conversations around diversity and inclusion, deeper questions remain:
- Who holds authority in the arts?
- What knowledge systems are centered—or excluded?
- How do Indigenous ways of knowing reshape artistic practice and education?
Grounded in Treaty 7 territory, this round table invites both local and global perspectives into conversation. Together, panelists will examine the tensions between institutional frameworks and Indigenous sovereignty, and consider pathways toward more relational, accountable, and transformative approaches to the arts.
This is not just a conversation about inclusion—it is a call to rethink how knowledge, creativity, and cultural leadership are held and shared.
